Design Fusion and Visions & Trends, PFW Holiday 2011

Sony VAIO presented Design Fusion and Visions & Trends last Saturday at the SMX Convention Centre in Manila as part of the recently concluded Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011. The show featured talented and dynamic fashion designers flaunting their collections in stylish grandeur. I’m so honoured to be a part of the Philippine Fashion Week this year, even just for a day’s event. 🙂

I dragged along an artist friend of mine, I, for the night’s fashionable affair.

Designers present were Bo Parcon, Don Protasio, Russel Villafuerte, Veejay Floresca, Xernan Orticio, Aries Lagat, Enrico Carado, Happy Andrada, Jaki Peñalosa, Jan Garcia, Kenneth Chua, Regine Dulay and Oz Go. The collections were mostly contemporary—from having a futuristic feel (think Lady Gaga or Star Trek) to having a classic/traditional touch (think Buddhist Monks, Burlesque Queens or the Byzantine Empire). I will make separate posts dedicated to each of the designers’ collections.

Of course, Sony showcased their ever stylish and colourful laptops with its wide array of C and S series VAIO laptops. When it comes to stylish and aesthetically-pleasing laptops, it’s either Mac or Sony that comes first to my list. 😉

Here are some fashion shots provided by Sony:

Here are some of the pics I took during the show featuring Sony VAIO:

Stores I wish we had here in Manila.

Here’s another wishful thinking. My toes are itching to go places once again, but I’m gonna stay in Manila for good until the rest of the year. I’ll prolly be somewhere else next year, as planned and adamantly settled.

Going back, there are a couple of stores in my mind that I wish we had here in Manila. It saves us the trouble of traveling miles away in order to personally take a visit.

This Swedish clothing store is best known for just about everything–from comfy casuals to gorgeous cocktails–as well as its collaboration with the likes of Rei Kawakubo’s Comme De Garçons and Alber Elbaz (does Lanvin ring a bell? :P).

The first time I stepped into an actual H&M store was in 2009, when I went to Belgium. I visited the H&M store in Antwerp. I got a baker boy cap for only €5! Clothes were mostly priced from €20 and above.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a shot of it since I left the cap back home. On a related note, my aunt recently gave me this beautiful red dress:

H&M Layered Chiffon Ruffled Dress in Red
Layered Chiffon Ruffled Dress at around 40 USD.

Someone told me that H&M will be available soon in Manila via Store Specialists, Inc. I’m keeping my fingers crossed until then, and I do hope that the price markup won’t be overwhelming. xx

Japanese store Uniqlo has made me as excited as a toddler when I got to visit their boutique at ION Orchard, which is divided into two floors (the upper floor for women, whilst the men’s boutique is located at the lower floor). I went to Singapore a few months ago for a quick vacay, and I didn’t regret shopping in Orchard Road for such reason!

Given my measly shopping budget, I didn’t hesitate to grab tops for myself and for my mom. Their huge casual collection–from minimalist to quirky garb–is to die for! I’d also seen interesting pieces for men during my window shopping. 😉 Here’s one of the tops I bought during my trip:

UNIQLO Franche Lippee Shirt
UNIQLO Franche Lippée Shirt on sale at around 20 SGD (originally at around 25 SGD). Really love the fun, vibrant nature patterns of this collection, that’s why I got mostly franche lippée tops.

My roomie and I are so yearning to go back soon and visit the store once again in order to hoard this time around! Of course, it would be much more convenient should they put up a store here in the metro! 😀

Gadget Candy: ONTO Headphones

Happy Easter everyone! Now that I’m reminded of bunnies and colourful eggs, let’s hop into candy-coloured gadgets as the topic of my post for today. 😉

For a music aficionado like moi, owning a pair of earphones and/or headphones is a must! I used to own a pair of TIs back in the days (not to mention, a pair of Sennheiser earphones), but I really wanted a pair of headphones that’s lightweight and won’t ruin my already unruly locks when wearing.

Good thing, I spotted these cutesy ONTO Headphones by Audio-Technica.

ONTO has a simple yet stylish design, and comes in a variety of interesting colours. Its innovative ultra-slim stainless headband gives me a just-enough support without ruining my ‘do. It’s super lightweight, so I could wear it for hours without feeling the stress in my head that most heavy headphones give. The stereo sound is a-ok for me. Of course, I still want to have the badass goodies like the most coveted Beats Studio Headphones by Dr. Dre.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have its own volume controls, so I always have to rely on my music player when adjusting the volume. The band is also prone to scratch. Since mine’s tinged in black, I just repair it using a permanent marker.

But anyway, it’s still my perfect everyday headphones. It’s small and portable that it fits perfectly in my small sling bag.

I got my ONTO in black for a minimalist yet chic appeal. 😛

Price is only around Php 1,800 in Astrovision (Php 2,100 in iStudio).
