Don Protasio - PFW Holiday 2011

Don Protasio’s Holiday 2011 Collection is inspired by desert nomads, featuring loose, tent-shaped silhouettes in greige fabric tinged in brown and [taupe] grey. The hooded pieces certainly remind me of Jedi knights, particularly the ones donned by the guys. I like the minimalistic, free-flowing feel of the fabric. The trailing and caping add much of the dramatic, and often, mysterious flair of the whole garb. The fabric looks lightweight and comfy (kinda looks like linen to me). I find the clothes streaked in highlighted hues of light and dark grey rather pretty chic.

Pieces exude my personal vision for the wearers of this collection: unbridled freedom that allows for the joy and ease of carefree movement. – Don Protasio

Bo Parcon - PFW Holiday 2011

Bo Parcon made quite a kick start with black and gold ensembles, maximising the use of mesh fabric (looked like piña to me, but have to check my facts first :P) which is intricately embellished with metallic gold detailing. Some dresses have ruffled or embossed tulles–like poufs–that make up the bottom (skirt part) of the garb or are niftily placed on the sleeve. Clothes are mostly paired up with black derniere socks embellished with the same scintillating golden accent. The design is a little bit tribal mainly because of the texturised woven-like patterns and geometrical symbols, yet chic and contemporary.

That’s basically what the holidays are all about—effusing a dark, smoky and sophisticated impression without ever losing touch to the glitz and the glamour.

Printed Matter.

I stumbled upon Joe Browns recently, a UK-based clothing store (reminds me of Topshop and Warehouse), which mostly features colours, prints and patterns that are Spring-Summer ready.

Of course, I went straight ahead to the womens clothes section. Most of them kinda remind me of Tsumori Chisato.

Aside from the bold colours and prints, I’ve also seen some tie-dyed and patchwork detailing, which suits this season. I love the tunics and dresses in particular. They’re something I can wear at the beach or whilst shopping. Here are some of my quirky picks:

Floral Bandeau Bikini with Frills – £24.95

Patchwork Tunic - Joe Browns
Carnaby Multi-Printed Tunic – £27.95

Hoodie - Joe Browns
Patchwork Hoodie – £34.95

Hitched skirt - Joe Browns
Floral Hitched Skirt – £19.95
