Oz Go, Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

Oz Go - Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

Oz Go concluded the night’s show with his Holiday 2011 collection entitled With Every Heartbeat. I’m not really sure where did he get the title, but I’m thinking it may be from one of Swedish singer Robyn’s track (yours truly is a self-confessed audiophile ;-) ).

He said that “his collection references the very fierce and experimental fashionphile,” which is pretty evident by the dynamic use of out-of-the-box geometrical 3D silhouettes and other structural patterns. His selection of pieces is predominantly tinged in monochromatic hues, with the use of fabrics such as cotton, satin, twill and denier.

When the first garb popped out, I smelled “biker chick” on it. There loomed a different vibe when the following pieces came out which are somewhat minimalistic yet outlandish and futuristic. For the most part, they look kinda costume-y to me. On the other hand, each sartorial piece looks like it’s neatly done with precision as I didn’t find anything shoddy or unfitting. I like the pants with embossed polygonal details really nice in particular. I’m also digging the boots. The long black gown for his finale seems like origami-inspired.

Regine Dulay, Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

Regine Dulay - Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

Pieces are trendy and edgy yet very wearable—each is inspired by the famed video game Tekken. Thus, Regine Dulay titled her holiday 2011 collection Tekken Taleaa. Materials used were stretch fabric, leatherette and linen in flavours of earthly, neutral hues; with the execution of techniques such as quilting, patching and appliqués creating a textured finish on most dresses and separates.

I honestly do not get much of the Tekken inspiration; but, with the apparent edginess of the pieces comes a chic touch to them. The design overall is very urban and contemporary (insert the Marc Jacobs meets Yohji or Junya thought bubble here). Each garb seems neatly tailored, which I really like about this collection. I have a thing for casuals which are neither bordering to superfluous nor too commonplace, and this collection certainly nails the look I am rooting for.

I specifically dig the camel zip-up jacket (as well as the cropped one), the pleated zip-up jacket top in navy and all those gorgeous black pants (with quilted detailing)!

Kenneth Chua, Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

Kenneth Chua - Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011

As a tribute to the movie Star Gate, Kenneth Chua merges the ancient from the futuristic for his Holiday 2011 collection. The repertoire features a contrast of things put together—from soft to hard fabric materials—in neutral shades of black and grey, warm shades of maroon and beetroot, and metallic shades of gold and silver. Each is complemented by structured and multi-dimensional textures, not to mention the snakeskin leather accessories and metallic fixtures as an additional twist.

Other than the bushy Cleopatra hair and the distinctively heavy makeup, the way some of the models strutted and projected really caught my attention (in a bit of a taunting way lol). Rather than the usual skinny models, he deviated from the norm by choosing voluptuous models instead .

Talking about the frocks, I find the long gypsy black dress interesting. His grey dress with folding patterns in serpentina cut for the finale proves to be exquisite! I believe it’s a dress especially made for a formal, red carpet affair. The ornate black stilettos look so pretty to boot!
