Only at 27, Taiwanese-American fashion designer Alexander Wang has already reached such great heights in the fashion world – the latest bagging a GQ/CFDA menswear award. Just recently, I took a glance on some of his Fall 2011 runway frocks and separates which are now available on his website.
Alexander Wang’s Fall 2011 ready-to-wear collection isn’t really far from his usual signature style. His pieces are mostly in monochromatic colours, with the exception of a few in blush hue. I love how he intellectually caters a diversity of looks that suits every style profile. I am quite amazed on how the tailored pieces are, well, neatly and impeccably done comparable to a bespoke material. I also notice deconstruction amongst some pieces which borders to being modern and edgy sans losing luxury and sophistication.
Moving on, here are some of my picks:

Black Streamer Dress – $ 585
This dress is definitely meant for my edgy and fierce fashion friends. Made entirely in silk, it’s a fitted floor-length tank dress with pearl merrowed bias streamers at the bottom.

Draped Dress with Cummerbund Detail – $ 695
This one is something I’d really love to wear as it oozes with elegance. It’s like a royalty frock that Duchess Catherine would wear. This loose knee-length viscose dress is accentuated with a single shoulder draped overlay and a cummerbund waistband partially tucked under the draping. (more…)
