Nutrimeal Diet.

Hello lovelies! It’s been pretty much a busy week for me, and I’ve deadlines to meet. Pardon for the delayed post. Ending the super busy workweek, I’m gonna keep this quick and simple. :-P

Nutrimeal Soy Protein Drink Powder in French Vanilla

Apart from my day job, I’ve been busy with something else. I’ve just started a 5-day milkshake diet via Nutrimeal. It’s a soy protein drink powder rich in protein, calcium and fibre. It’s also fortified with vitamins and minerals much needed by our bodies, making each serving a complete meal already.

Last week, I got this from a former classmate of mine who happens to work from USANA. Nutrimeal has three flavours: french vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I got the former as per his recommendation (which he told me it tastes like ice cream daw, so I immediately gave in lol). I would’ve loved to try the chocolate flavour, but I’d had a bad experience from another brand (hint: can be bought in Healthy Options). It really tasted like c—-. My bad if you’re amidst eating whilst reading this.

Nutrimeal Soy Protein Drink Powder in French Vanilla with Muscovado Sugar

Since I don’t have a blender here at the pad and I’m too lazy and broke to go out and buy one, I just concoct it the old-fashioned way — that is, using my very own spoon. He-he.

Making the milkshake is quite easy. I love how the powder easily dissolves into the water, creating a homogeneous mixture in a matter of seconds. This is something that I really find hard on other powder drinks, especially when I mix them with cold water. As for the taste, I find it a bit bland, which is why I include Muscovado sugar (prolly the healthiest unrefined sweetener that I could get) into the concoction. Voila, [it's] a yummy milkshake drink that tastes soooo good! :-)

One huge glass is enough to complete the day’s meal. Ideally, it should be taken at least thrice a day. If you’re doing a strenuous activity, I guess it’s okay to take it with food. Since I wasn’t exactly doing anything physical at all, I’ve resolved to taking the milkshake only.

Most of the time, I feel already full after drinking it, which makes my food cravings put onto hold for a while. I just don’t feel like looking at food pictures on the other hand. That thought drives me insane!

Pineapple & Peach Tidbits

Whenever I get such cravings, I usually grab fruits at the nearby store — like these pineapple and peach titbits for example, albeit it’s not exactly healthy as if it were a processed food. I also eat lots of bananas, which I find very nice for the first time. Little did you know is that I wasn’t a banana eater until now.

I cheated mainly on my fourth day. I grabbed a grilled chicken sandwich in lieu of one glassful of milkshake. I forgot to bring an extra to the office, and I was unfortunate enough not to spot a single fruit nearby. It was midnight then, so to speak, where most of the stores were closed already.

Review: Burner Dietary Energy Lip Balm

Burner Balm - Dietary Energy Lip balm

When I found out about Burner Lip Balm being sold at EchoStore, I didn’t hesitate to try it out. Not that I’m currently on diet, but I simply bought it out of sheer curiosity. :-P

Infused with Green Tea, Hoodia Gordonii, Chromium Picolinate and Caffeine, Burner Lip Balm claims to curb your appetite whilst increasing your body’s metabolism. It contains zero sugar and calories, which is ideal should you stick to a low sugar or low carbohydrate diet. In other words, this lip balm helps you “lose weight”. ;-)

The manufacturer explains that this method of ingesting these ingredients bypasses the digestive system, thus making more available for absorption into the bloodstream. Comparebestdietpills.com

The lip balm comes in five flavours: acai berry, spearmint, strawberry, pomegranate and vanilla. The store only had one tester in vanilla, which I found really nice-smelling. Anyhoos, I got mine in acai berry.

To use: Apply lip balm 4 to 8 times daily.

Glue Stick Texture, Placebo Effect

I’m a little disappointed with this lip balm, to be honest, because of its dry, glue stick texture. It doesn’t glide well on my lips, and it doesn’t provide enough moisture to boot. I need to glide it on again and again in order to decently apply the lip balm, which is kinda odd. (more…)

GNC Eat Well, Live Well Launch in Shangri-la Mall

Chef Him Uy De Baron - GNC Eat Well, Live Well Shangri-la Mall Launch

A few weeks ago, GNC held an Eat Well, Live Well event together with its store launch in Shangri-la Mall. Luckily, the mall is the nearest to my place, so I didn’t mind dropping by anyway. Besides, I also love to cook, and featuring East Café’s Chef Him Uy de Baron to cook four deliciously healthy meals piqued my interest quite enough. :-P

For those of you who don’t know anything about GNC, it’s a specialty retailer of nutritional products (i.e. vitamins, minerals, dietary, herbal and other specialty supplements) with thousands of franchises stretching across the United States and other franchise operations in more than 50 international markets.

The event lasted a little longer than I expected, but I finished it nonetheless. I’m so excited to try the recipes soon! I’ve always wanted to pull something really yummy yet healthy, since most so-called “healthy” dishes usually taste like crap. As for the recipes, I will share them to you on my personal blog, which is totally outdated (pre-emptive comment here lolol).

High Protein Crepes & Zucchini Pancakes with Ricotta Sauce. They both sound and look yummy!

Recently, I passed by the same GNC store before going to the office, and bought some dietary supplements. I also availed the GNC Live Well Gold Card, so I could get everything for 20% off! :-D The Gold Card membership costs around Php 520, and is valid for one year. It has a supplementary card which can also be used by anyone to avail the same discount.

So here’s what I got:

GNC Supplements
Evening Primrose Oil, Women’s Ultra Mega, Melatonin

I’ve been hearing lots of raves about Evening Primrose Oil, so I gave it a try. It’s an herbal medicine used as a remedy for various diseases and disorders. Full information here.

I used it as indicated, which is 2 soft gel capsules per day. So far, I’ve noticed the benefits on my skin. I was breaking out recently, and it suddenly slowed down when I took these meds in conjunction with the multivitamins—Women’s Ultra Mega.

As for the latter, I only know that I need multivitamins because I’m a very sickly person. That’s actually why I bought it. However, I just take one capsule a day since I find it too expensive should I take 2 per day. Plus, I’ve been swallowing quite enough vitamins (lol) already, and I guess it’s safe to assume that I have to start gradually (yea, more excuses lol). So far, I can’t say anything surprisingly spectacular about it. By the next month, I’ll get the bigger bottle and stick to the proper indication.

The Melatonin states the obvious: I use it for sleep. The cherry flavour is love, and I think it kinda helps me sleep better (and longer). I guess, it’s the same as the one I used to have which I purchased from Healthy Options, although this one doesn’t need any fluid intake and tastes like candy.

Now, I suddenly feel a bit odd reviewing nutritional supplements. :-P But, here’s to better bodies starting today!
