Here’s one lip product that’s been regularly stashed inside my makeup kit for quite a while and one of my favourites.

I was very curious about it when I sought upon this product for the first time. The label’s written in Korean, so I had no idea what kind of makeup it was, until I received the product information saying it works as a “lip tint”.

Tony Moly Berry Berry Magic Lip Tint is made of water-soluble dye that melts on moistened skin, such as the pucker. It’s enriched with Vitamin E that moistens and protects the lips from irritation.

It comes in 3 colours: strawberry, green apple and grape. I got mine in strawberry, hinting on the tangy berry scent as I took a whiff on it.

Translucent Gel, Tinted when Applied

Inside

The strawberry flavour disguises as a clear translucent gel, hence I didn’t have a clue that it was indeed a lip product. I was caught by surprise the moment I applied it on my lips — the once clear gel magically transformed into a tinted one. I guess it has the same formulation as that of Smashbox O-Gloss’, but I’ve yet to find out for sure.

Great Colour Payoff, Yummy Strawberry Scent

It delivers a deep pink tint, and has a rich colour payoff for a lip tint. I use it in lieu of my old The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain, since the former is more moisturising that I don’t even need to apply a lip balm after. It has a glossy sheen that’s not too overpowering, making it perfect to wear alone sans the need of a lip gloss. It’s not sticky to boot!

The finger application may set you off, but a separate lip brush will do the trick.

Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar is rich in fruit extracts and Vitamin C that moisturises and hydrates chapped lips. It comes in 6 yummy flavours (stawberry, grape, orange, peach, cherry and apple). I got mine in Strawberry.

I tested it, and it’s just like an ordinary lip gloss sans the tint. Might as well give it to my younger cousin, since I’ve tons of lip glosses and balms already.

Tony Moly Backstage Eye Paint Pot – Php 448

Tony Moly Backstage Eye Paint Pot works as an eye shadow, liner or a highlighter. This high definition, long-wearing eye colour claims to be budge-proof and waterproof, and lasts the entire day. It comes with a small brush concealed on top of the lid for quick, instant touch-ups. I got mine in lavender with shimmers.

Tony Moly Berry Trendy Hair Wax – Php 178

Tony Moly Berry Trendy Hair Wax comes in different formulations, depending on the length and type of the hair. Each pot delivers a different hold and glossy finish. I got mine in a coral pink pot that’s perfect to those who have long, wavy hair. It has the weakest hold for a voluminous wave, if I’m mistaken, but gives off the best sheen. It has a yummy apple scent, hence I initially mistook it for a facial mask lol.

Albeit made specially for men, I use it ideally to keep those stubborn tutchangs at bay and nix those icky frizzes for neat and sleek hair styling.

Tony Moly Berry Trendy Style Hair Mist – Php 378

Tony Moly Berry Trendy Style Hair Mist is one of my current hair care-slash-styling favourites. It prevents split ends, effectively detangles my unkempt locks (prior to combing), calms down frizzes, and keeps my hair freshly scented with a hint of sweet berries. It also has UV filters that protect the hair from the drying and damaging rays of the sun. It’s a must-have hair care arsenal!

Without further ado, here’s my take on Covergirl’s newest lip craze – Covergirl Lip Perfection Bullet Lipstick.

It promises to soften and smoothen the lips, and transform it into one lovely kissable pucker in just 7 days! Really sounds enticing, isn’t it?

Take lip colour to a whole new level with these 22 luscious lip perfection bullet lipstick shades.

I got mine in Burn and Hypnotic during the Covergirl Lip Perfection launch.

Burn is a deep crimson colour. It naturally brightens up a dull face. Unlike other bedazzling red shades, this one isn’t too overpowering, perhaps because of its shimmery lustre.

A cardinal rule for any red lipstick is to wear it with minimal to bare makeup, lest you’d end up looking like a buffoon — which obviously isn’t the peg you’re aiming for.

Burn when worn.

Hypnotic, on the other hand, is your typical everyday colour in pearly nude shade. I wear this or Love Minerals lipstick in Sweet Nectar (the latter has a nude peach-pink shade) whenever I set off to work.

It’s also my go-to colour whenever I wear heavy (read: smoky) eye makeup.

Glides Smoothly, Pigmented, Satin Finish

Covergirl Lip Perfection Bullet Lipstick is such an ease to apply. It glides on smoothly on the lips without the dragging feel. It’s richly pigmented, so a few swipes is all I need.

I love how it goes at par with luxe brands. During the event, we tested 3 lipsticks of different brands and compared each. The third one from the left is Covergirl Lip Perfection Bullet Lipstick. Notice how rich the colour is.

Both colours deliver a satin finish with shimmery or pearly lustre.

Moisture Level depends on Colour/Pigment

I guess it’s normal for heavily pigmented colours, such as deep reds and corals, to be more drying than those with lighter pigments. I found burn a bit drying after hours of usage, in such a way that my lips begin to chap. I therefore recommend to use an emollient lip balm with it in order to prolong the moisturisation prowess of the lipstick. Better yet, tote the lip balm along with you should you need a quick fix.

As for hypnotic,  my lips stay well-moisturised all day long, which’s why it’s an ideal everyday lipstick.

I love how Covergirl didn’t scrimp on the packaging. The structured packaging looks so posh and sturdy! Also, the musky vanilla scent is so yummy; it beckons me to apply the lipstick again and again!

Suffering from a not-so-flawless skin, I’ve been obsessed with skin care products more than makeup. Yet, it dawned upon me, after much cajoling by Liz, to wear lipsticks (especially colours that stand out) more often.

Albeit long overdue, here’s my review on two Love Minerals passion fruit lipsticks I currently own.

In case you don’t know, Love Minerals is the makeup line of Human ♥ Nature — a local organic brand in the Philippines. I got these two from a small blogger’s event organised by Human ♥ Nature and Virtusio months ago.

Love Minerals Passion Fruit Hydrating Mineral Lipstick is made of 100% natural ingredients, and completely free from synthetic chemical preservatives. Most lipsticks contain carmine (from crushed insects) and mineral oil which promote premature ageing on skin and lips. Love Minerals lipstick, on the other hand, gets its moisture power from passion fruit seed oil, sunflower oil, cocoa butter, beeswax and rice bran oil. Together, these ingredients promise to deliver silky, softening and smoothening colour to the lips.

It’s available in four shades: Earth Angel (Browns), Coral Kiss (Peaches and Corals), Pink Skies (Pinks/Mauves) and Sweet Nectar (Neutrals). 

I currently own Coral Kiss and Sweet Nectar.

Love Minerals Passion Fruit Lipsticks in Coral Kiss. It delivers a rich coral shade, and is perfect to wear during special occasions that require dressing up.

Love Minerals Passion Fruit Lipsticks in Sweet Nectar. I use this shade frequently, since it’s the safest colour that can blend well with anything! I use a lip tint in addition should I want to make the colour richer.

Plus, I super duper love the scent. It’s so sweet like candy! I think I’m addicted to sniffing it over and over again.

Streaking & Buildup, Needs More Moisture

After sometime, say about a few hours, the lipstick starts to wear. I think the moisture isn’t enough to last for as long as 8 hours. Hence, it begins to streak and forms buildup particularly on the chapped part of the lips. I believe this is a common case for most lipsticks, which is why I use Smith’s or EOS lip balm prior to lipstick application.

Also, it’s really important to prep your lips before application. Lips should be well-moisturised and chap-free, lest it would rather form buildup and streaking, which is annoying.

Nonetheless, I love these lipsticks being the purely organic ones that I own.

When I found out about Burner Lip Balm being sold at EchoStore, I didn’t hesitate to try it out. Not that I’m currently on diet, but I simply bought it out of sheer curiosity.

Infused with Green Tea, Hoodia Gordonii, Chromium Picolinate and Caffeine, Burner Lip Balm claims to curb your appetite whilst increasing your body’s metabolism. To use: Apply lip balm 4 to 8 times daily.

Glue Stick Texture, Placebo Effect

I’m a little disappointed with this lip balm, to be honest, because of its dry, glue stick texture. It doesn’t glide well on my lips, and it doesn’t provide enough moisture to boot. I need to glide it on again and again in order to decently apply the lip balm, which is kinda odd.

As for the appetite suppressing prowess, I think it’s just a placebo effect. Since the direction indicates using the lip balm 4-8 times daily, I’m always drawn to think that I’m using a “dietary” lip balm which psychologically affects my craving.

However, what may not work for me may work for you. I’ve read some positive testimonials here and there, so I cannot ascertain that this product is a complete bust!

Cheap Packaging, Weird Smell

I didn’t expect an awesome packaging for starters, since it comes with a very affordable price tag. As for the acai berry flavour, I really don’t find the smell pleasant. It has a weird medicinal scent, which is a far cry from the yummy vanilla flavour scent. I highly recommend the latter should you wish to try this lip balm.

Update: I forgot to mention this prior to posting. Nevertheless, here’s a friendly reminder:

One of its main ingredient is beeswax, which is a common allergen and shouldn’t be used by someone who’s allergic to it.

The lip balm itself is really smooth and glides on easily, leaving a matte finish like your typical lip balm.  On the other hand, it would be nicer if it had a tinted version for a “just-bitten” look.

The first time I’ve heard about Human Nature was from a former colleague of mine who apparently knew someone who sells them. I, being the curious cat as always, tried googling for a website. Gladly, they have one. As soon as I found out that they’re one of the local organic products available in the market, I became much more interested.

Only recently, I’ve become more concerned about the environment that I’d rather prefer owning all-natural, organic products–from food and dietary supplements to bug sprays and cleaning agents. I usually frequent Healthy Options in search for these things. However, I couldn’t afford to do groceries for organic meat and veggies on a regular basis nor grab organic cleaning agents or skincare products randomly, since they all tend to be really expensive. I’m so happy that finally got this after, well, many years of searching. I couldn’t find it anymore in the Philippines, so when I saw it sitting prettily on the counter, I immediately grabbed ahold of it without hesitation.

Well, this is not really something new, as the old formulation (Rosebud Salve) dates you back to 1895. I’m so interested in getting Smith’s Rosebud Salve because of its versatile properties.

It’s not just your ordinary lip balm. It claims to help ease burns (sunburn and chemical burns on the scalp), itchiness, dryness and other skin irritations (such as wind burn, insect bits and zits).
