Review: My skin loves Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream!

Update: Here’s your chance to win Garnier Light Complete Multi-Action Lightening Face Cream (contest runs til Sept 29, 2011)!

I thought about using Garnier products as a challenge to see if I get positive results after 30 days or more of using them. It all started when I got the loot from my mission a couple of months ago. πŸ™‚ All I can say is, so far, so greattt! πŸ˜€

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream

First on my review list is this Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream from Garnier. I was never a fan of night creams, because they’re too heavy and/or greasy on my already-greasy skin. There’s rarely a night cream that suits all skin types. And as for my skin which is sadly oily and acne-prone, most night creams I tried gave me horror stories to tell.

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream’s Claim

This Garnier night cream is infused with pure lemon essence and natural peeling fruit extracts that exfoliates dark skin cells and peels off dullness as you sleep, revealing fresh and fairer skin in the morning. Not only will it lessen dark spots, but it will also prevent your skin from further darkening.

Away from external aggressions, night is the ideal time to reinforce whitening action. With the combined attributes of Vitamin C from lemon essence, Vitamin CG from herbal extracts, and the natural peeling fruit extracts, you’re sure to wake up with a healthy glowing, visibly fairer and more even toned skin! You will never have to walk in the dark again!-Garnier

Apply a liberal amount at night (after cleansing and toning), and wake up fresh and dewy in the morning!

Verdict: Evens out my skin tone, and helps clearing out my skin!

This is one of the very few night creams and moisturizers that my super sensitive skin agree with. Garnier Overnight WhiteningΒ  Peeling Cream didn’t cause any adverse reactions on me. It didn’tΒ  irritate or break my skin out! So, it’s safe to assume that it really did a big help in gradually clearing my skin from those nasty zits I’ve been suffering for more than a decade.

Now, I’ve never loved my skin like this before (scratch the pre-pubescent years, ‘coz my skin was flawlessly awesome then πŸ˜› ). Worry not, ‘coz this won’t actually make the skin peel, which is a common aftereffect of chemical peeling treatments. I guess the term applies on its ability to strip off skin’s dullness. However, I notice that it didn’t actually lighten my skin tone up a notch, but it surely helped to even it out particularly in fading those dark spots and blemishes. My only concern is that it feels a bit greasy after application, so I always make sure to use a considerable amount (say, pea-size will do), rather than slathering a dollop of product on my face. Nevertheless, no scary breakouts were ever recorded the day after, just fresh-looking skin!

I’m confident to say that I’m on my way into finally having a virtually blemish-free skin! πŸ™‚

Best of all, it’s really affordable! A 50ml jar only costs Php 329 (about $ 6.73). πŸ™‚

It’s been almost 3 months now since I’ve started religiously using it and it’s still halfway full! πŸ™‚

  1. This is a wonderful product review- thanks!… I would wonder what a “lightening” cream would do- and what a great price!

  2. Hi Bailey! I’m not pretty sure on the lightening effect. But, it somehow helped fading dark spots on my face, thus evening out my skin tone. Ah yes, the price is just spectacular! πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Joann. It actually works like a night cream. No need to peel off or wash it after use. πŸ™‚

i’ve been using garnier religiously for nearly 2 months now (foaming cleanser, toner, overnyt cream and day cream) and its just great! it doesn’t break me out! its the first product that i used continuosly cause the products i’ve used before give me a lot of zits so i discontinue them and find another.. and another..i dont even finih a single bottle or tube! and this has gone for a year. my face has ugly scars, and i never had a single pimple free day. so this is really record breaking.. 2 months of using a single line of product. GARNIER..

    – i felt that my face is more supple and hydrated the day after using the it,plus -no visible signs of peeling. it might feel greasy at first application but my skin absorbs it well thereafter

    TONER (the yellow one)
    – love using this prduct cause it has this milky feeling that really soothes your skin, no stingy feel it felt really good on my face and i have no visible pores now. however, it doesnt really work well on the dirt removing thing anyway,i dont break out and it feels great so why care anyway

    DAY cream
-is also good it has spf15, it faded my dark stubborn spots a little bit (cause it has only been 2 months, let’s make it realistic)and it looks nice under make up. it reflects light so your skin generally looks flawless

OVERALL: my face is fairer, more even, no visible pores, looks so young and supple.. the product also is nice under make up..and its relatively affordable and always available at depatment stores. lots of people notice the improvement on my skin and its just so amazing. hope the results continue on for a year or even longer.

    Pure SOS blemish clear pen”
-it doesnt clear off my pimple thus, it makes my pimple become more reddened the day after

    Pure A scub
-it has large granules. yeah it scrubs your face well but its a little too harsh on the face. i advise that you should not use it regularly as it makes your pores bigger and your face more reddened.. but if used occasionally, it works fine clearing up the dirt and it helps on fading your dark stubborn spots as well

i’m planning to use the yellow pen of GARNIER that claims to fade dark spots.. i’ll give a review if it works well or not. ciao! hope this helps πŸ™‚

  6. […] used the scrub wash before, and I’ve been religiously using the Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream ever since. I’m not sure if I’m gonna opt for the day cream, since my skin barely needs […]

  7. Hi Precious! Thanks for the wonderful review you did! πŸ˜€ I’m glad the Garnier Light Products really work on your skin! πŸ™‚

As for the overnight peeling cream, a little goes a long way for me. Too much product and it will certainly grease my face off. πŸ˜›

Hope to hear your future raves (or maybe rants?) soon about Garnier! Keep ’em coming. πŸ˜€

I have to tell you something. I’m just a guy who happened to accidentally bumped on a sachet of Garnier Light cream at some drugstore and decided to buy it. I don’t have much acne on my face but because of my continuous squeezing of the tiny bumps, I tend to get mild scratches. Hahaha. My uncontrollable habit scarred my face a bit and had a lot of dark spots. So I thought testing this one out since… well, it’s just 19 bucks.

I tried using it after washing my face (with my body soap as usual). I thought the lemon scent would annoy the hell out of me but when I applied it, I was suprised. I thought I was about to eat it. Hahaha! No kidding, it smelled so nice, I didn’t notice I kept on applying it on my cheek one layer after another. Hahahahaah!

Anyway, what I found about this cream is that it made my skin flat. I mean flat… smooth, no bumps, and I was like… the hell. How come didn’t I try believing KC Concepcion for this one? Hahaha! Yeah, it did make my skin a bit fairer (which kind of made me felt awkward because it’s fairer… yeah) right after applying it but it really didn’t matter… what I’m happy about it is that it made my skin smoother. Oh, I almost forgot. That was late night already when I first used it.

When I checked my face up first thing in the morning, I was surprised… my face was like WOAH! I’M FLAWLESS! Hahaha! Really. I’ve never been happy with a moisturizer that does what it’s not intended to do… and that is making my skin smooth. I guess it closed my pores and all.

I think I’ll purchase a bigger size of it. I’m worried it might whiten my face permanently (i’m not really into whitening cosmetics especially to my face–it might make my face look whiter than my body hahahaha! you know what I mean)

Yeah, hope people would also try using this product and get the same results. I even brought a sample to my brothers to test it out (and got pretty similar results, I’m telling you hahaha!)

  9. Neil says:

Oh, I’m sorry. I got carried away. I was talking about the Light cream whiten and protect… something. Yeah, not the product you discussed above. I guess I have to try that one since Garnier didn’t disappoint me. Also, it evened out my face after 5 days. Can you believe that?

Hope it’ll always be like this if I continue using the cream. And if I complement it with that peeling cream above, hope I’ll get better results. Yeah, to keep acne break outs away! πŸ˜€

  10. Hi Neil! Maybe you were referring to the Day Cream with SPF 15? πŸ™‚ I’m so glad it works out for you! πŸ˜€

  11. April says:

Hello pwede mag tanung if san mka2bili ng garnier light sa online? thank you

  12. Hi April,

I’m not sure if there’s anyone who sells Garnier products online since it’s available locally at Watson’s outlets in particular. πŸ™‚ Hence, you can check

  13. Lenoelle Anne M. Amancio says:

Is this not a lie????I’ve been using a lot of whitening creams still NOTHING WORKED for me. I have a sensitive and pimple prone skin. Please don’t disappoint me.

  14. Hi Leonelle!

This is based on my experience. However, comments here could be based on the commenter’s experience as well.

As for your problem, you may have to consider your skin type. Perhaps, this works for me, but may not work for you. Skin sensitivity differs to a degree that mine can be less sensitive as yours. To be sure, you must consult a dermatologist first prior to using this product. πŸ™‚

  15. BAby says:

    Hello sweetie,
Since you have tried the Garnier LOPC, do you ever breakout? Cos I’ve been wanting to try out this cream since the tan that i got has gradually caused my skin to appear dull and bouts of uneven skintone.. what a nightmare. plus this has caused my skin to look bad without any makeup on. thus i am on my journey to address my skin woes. I need a good whitening cream so as to achieve my originaly fair skintone.
Oh and have you tried using Garnier Light Oil Control Whitening Cream? If so, could you do a review..pretty please?

  16. Hi Baby,

Sorry for the late reply! I did not experience any purging on my part when I was still using Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream. For your woes, I encourage you to try it! πŸ™‚ Who knows, it may the solution for your current skin condition.

I haven’t tried Garnier Light Oil Control Whitening Cream, but I’ll be giving more room for it in the future, or pehaps, have someone to try it as I’m currently using another product at this time. I will let you know if I or someone gets to test the product soon! πŸ™‚

  17. BAby says:

    Hi sweetie,
Yesterday,I’ve just purchased the Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream. And have tried it for the first time last night and I’m quite pleased. Very moist yet not oily feeling. And i don’t breakout.
Thanks for your recommendation. Looking forward to more reviews. =)

  18. mailes says:

hello poh gusto ko lang po malaman kung suitable ba yung garnier overnight peeling cream para sa mga oily at acne prone skin?wala na bang iba pang gamitin naproduct like toner?at saka wala bang side effect reaction pag gumamit sa product?thanx po hope u can answer my quest.

  19. Yup. I have oily/acne prone skin pero okay naman ito for me without causing any side effects. Pero, I recommend applying it as light as possible, coz medyo mabigat rin sa skin. πŸ™‚ I hope I have answered your question well. πŸ™‚

  20. swathi says:

  21. Wow Swathi, that’s really nice to hear! The best thing about this brand, apart from being effective, is its price! πŸ™‚

  27. naveen says:

hi i am naveen this product work for mens or not and also this reduces darkspots r not

  28. Hi Naveen. I believe it also works for men. In my experience, it really reduces dark spots, but patience is always a virtue as it took a while before I saw the dramatic difference. πŸ™‚

  29. smiley says:

hello! ask ko lang if effective ba talaga ang multi-action whitening cream~ Alin ang mas mgndang gamitin para mawala ang dark spots and acne marks? Garnier multi-action whitening cream or GARNIER LIGHT OVERNIGHT WHITENING PEELING CREAM? πŸ™‚

  30. Liezl says:

how much po ba itong peeling cream na garnier, ang dami na kc ang pimples ko malalaki pa gr ihate it… kc positive nman ung nababasa ko sa mga comments dito… so tlagang ok ba tlaga? and how much po?

  31. Smiley: Honestly, I haven’t tried the Garnier multi-action whitening cream yet, so I cannot tell which is better. But, given that note, I’m actually gonna have a Garnier giveaway in the future. So, stay tuned! πŸ˜‰

Liezl: If the zits are troubling you more than the dark spots, I suggest you address your acne problem first. πŸ˜‰ Try consulting a dermatologist for starters. As for me, I used the Garnier whitening peeling cream for the dark spots left by pimples. Plus, it really has a brightening factor! πŸ™‚

  32. Ron says:

Anong garnier po ba ang pwede kong gamitin pang pawala ng mga dark spots. ? yung as in effective po tlaga

  33. In my experience, Garnier seems to be effective but it takes time for you to see the difference (perhaps, give it after a month or so?).

If you really want something that’s fast-acting, I suggest you to try Neostrata HQ Lightening Cream or Obagi Clear. I can attest to Neostrata by experience. πŸ˜› Someone, on the other hand, highly recommends Obagi Clear to me. πŸ˜‰

  34. jenny says:

i’m also using this overnight peeling cream & the whiten & even light cream in morning and its helping my dark spots & acne marks to fade although i’ve been using this only for a week & a half. with garnier, it would actually take a month or longer for its full effect but it didn’t give me breakouts anymore. good thing as i’m prone to acne. πŸ™‚
